1888 3CN AU55 PCGS, MPD-001, FS-3N-1888-301, variety not listed on the holder. The top of an 8 is seen between the denticles between the first two eights. Also between the denticles below the left side of the first eight is what appears to also be the top of a 1. I didn’t notice this other misplaced digit when I sent the listing into the authors of the Cherrypicker’s Guide, but now I am pretty sure it is another digit between the denticles. I have also noticed on this example that the reverse is rotated counterclockwise a little. This coin has very nice color, a lot of luster, and is about as great looking as a high grade circulated 1888 could ever expect to be. I really like the look and originality of this coin!
A great addition to someone’s Everyman’s Registry set with the added bonus of being a Cherrypicker’s Guide variety.
