1881 3CN PR65 PCGS, just beautiful, PRICE REDUCED
1881 3CN PR65 PCGS this is variety P03a(not listed on the PCGS holder) with strong repunching inside both loops of both 8’s. The reverse is rotated clockwise just a little as is often found on this variety. This is one of the clearist, if not the clearist, repunched date on a 3c Nickel proof. This pair of dies was also later used to produce a RPD variety in business strike format known as B13.
The coin is just beautiful with quite a bit of cameo contrast on the devices. The obverse has a wire rim all the way around it. A small struck through thread as minted is in the obverse field below the 88. Some very tiny contact marks on the left reverse numeral’s lines are the only mentionable distraction otherwise this might grade a PF66.
THE PRICE HAS BEEN REDUCED TO SELL.
