1872 3CN AU50 ANACS “Gifford 1872B04 Plate Coin, ALLAN GIFFORD COLLECTION” – listed on holder. This actual coin is pictured on the 1872B04 page of the Gifford book. The variety was named the “Thick 2”. The coin was flatly struck, especially most of the reverse. Allan Gifford wrote The Ultimate Guide to US 3 Cent Nickels, 1865 to 1889, released in 2003. His coins were sold in two Scotsman Coins Auctions in 2011 and I had some of them certified by ANACS with his collection’s name listed on the holder’s label.
